Little Improvements: Our Washroom
We try very hard to live by the rule, do not have anything in your home you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful (William Morris) but not everything in our house is that way. When we were first looking at this apartment I pointed out the light fixture in the washroom and told our realtor, “that will not be staying!”. Well, 6 years later and it was still here. It looked like a space ship landed on our giant mirror and not in a good way.
See what I mean?
We needed a light that was smaller and more aesthetically pleasing but that still gave off enough light for make-up application and keeping an eye on a toddler who is known to play with the toilet brush.
The challenge with our bathroom is that the entire wall is a mirror with one hole cut out where the new light must go. This really limited our lighting options. I mentioned this dilemma to Cedar and Moss, an amazing and inspiring forest-made lighting design company out of Portland, Oregon… see more, here! I had my eye on the Vista 2
and the Alto Sconce
But I was worried about either one working in our awkward space. Michelle of Cedar and Moss mentioned she had always wanted to add glass globes to the Vista 2 and offered to make one for me. Needless to say this was the perfect solution to our mirror wall and a dream come true!
After some lessons learned installing a light on a mirror we now have our beautiful fixture up! I am so in love with it. The brass details are stunning and this one light changes our entire washroom for the better. Now I just need to update the towel racks and hardware to complement this stunning fixture.
Oh and I almost forgot to mention, Cedar and Moss decided to name the light after our sweet boy ! I cannot say enough about Cedar and Moss and it seems our love affair with Portland continues.
