High Ceilings and No Doors

When we decided to give up our bedroom to get back the rest of our place we still needed somewhere to keep our clothes.  We kept our closet where it was, in Theo’s new room.  He didn’t need it, his mini clothes fit in a small closet in the hallway and while we didn’t need a bedroom or a permanent place for our bed, we couldn’t survive without our closet organizer.

In our small space, even before baby, doors ended up getting in the way, and taking up much coveted space.  Curtains are a great alternative. We already had a thick canvas curtain covering our linen closet so I chose the same curtains to hide our clothes closet in the new baby room.  With our lofted ceilings, standard curtains don’t reach the floor so I sewed 12” of fabric along the bottom to bring the curtain to the floor.  It’s a cheap and cheerful way to hide an otherwise awkward double use of space.
