Morning Love and Chaos

Our crazy talented friends @maryandthejoel, who I have mentioned before here caught us a bit off guard as our house guests a few weeks back and snapped some pics of us getting ready for work and daycare after a long weekend away. Our mornings are generally chaos with a toddler and two working parents trying to navigate each other in a small space. We chose this life and we love it but it’s not always pretty. We are getting dressed, packing lunches, folding up wall beds, doing dishes, changing diapers and making plans.

What a gift to have friends capture the reality of our mornings. Our house was a mess and we were scrambling, and I could not love these photos more. maryandthejoel always remind me that you can’t style your life and that reality is always better than anything you can make up or try to make look pretty. My half done hair, Trevor unloading the dishwasher, Theo’s bed head… this is us. Though I did conveniently leave out the photo of our mess of a kitchen with last night’s dishes and wine still hanging out (sorry Mary!).
