Our former bedroom (now Theo’s) only has one small window about 9ft off the ground.  This is not ideal but I find there are always a few comprises even when you find the place that is right for you.

An (almost) windowless bedroom can be brightened up a few ways.

1) White Walls - I am partial to white walls in a small space, or to be honest, any space :).  I find white bright, cheerful, minimalist and generally aesthetically pleasing.  Colour and texture can be added with furniture, art and accessories.

2) Light - Bright, warm light fixtures that are dimmable to suit your needs are helpful in ensuring a windowless or small windowed room is never too dark or uninviting

3) Art as Illusion - In this room we blew up a picture of the sky and split it into two frames to appear like a window.  This photo adds brightness, colour and gives the illusion of bringing the outdoors into an otherwise enclosed room.  The photo is the sky in the moments before our wedding ceremony taken by the amazingly talented Blue Window Creative (find them here).
