Something Small Mail Organizer is Here
I’ve finally released the Something Small Mail Organizer out into the world! Thank you so much to those who have ordered so far. Designing something and making it locally by skilled craftspeople using thoughtful materials means a higher price point and I appreciate that you are willing to pay for that time and those materials.
I thought I would share again why this mailbox served us so well over the years and why I thought it was worth the effort of offering it for sale. Paper in a small space is always a problem for us. The first step towards taming paper clutter is to opt-out of as much physical mail as possible. Opt-in for digital bills, statements, invoices etc. And if possible request no flyers in your area. But even with digitizing as much as you can. I find there is a certain amount of paper that we are always dealing with in our home.
I tried having a stack of papers on the counter or away in a closet but I found this lovely box in the entryway (on a shelf or hung on the wall) has been the best way to manage paperwork in our home.
Digitize your life as much as possible
Sort mail when it comes in the door. Open and recycle anything unimportant.
Any important documents that need to be filed or scanned (I use a phone scanner) can sit in the mailbox until you have time to file or deal with them.
I find the shape of the box conceals enough clutter with it’s round arch while always reminding you that you need to deal with your paper. We know school forms, or cards to register, or taxes to pay are in that box! “Check the box” is a common refrain in our home.
Where to put the box:
on a narrow shelf near the entryway to your home
2. Hanging on the wall. I have hung it a number of ways. You could use a drywall anchor and a screw with the notched out hanging detail. I’ve also used these Monkey Hooks with success. Or if you don’t want to damage walls these Command Velcro Strips have worked for me as well.
I hope you find this box helpful! And if this box isn’t for you hopefully the idea behind it is useful and you can use something you already own to serve the same purpose. A filing box or wall mounted in and out file could achieve the same purpose!
Anyway, thanks for supporting this little dream of mine of putting something out in the world to help with small space family living! We are already working on the next batch so sign up for the newsletter to know first when the next drop is (sign up at the bottom of this page).
