Entry Way Growing Pains
With a small apartment, one of the biggest issues is where to put our stuff when we walk in the door. As we live in the pacific northwest, we experience ALL the seasons and we need the gear to go along with it. We have tried to keep our coats and shoes to a minimum and pack away seasonal items we don’t need. We’ve had success so far but as our little boy grows I am trying to look at this entry way differently.
Before Theo I thought this space should remain empty and white but as Theo’s shoes and backpack and coats pile up on our entry bench I realize we need a designated zone to contain his things. I’ve been thinking that it would be nice to have hooks at his height so we can teach him to take off his jacket and hang them up. So I have been searching for just the right wall hooks to work within this tiny 3′ space behind our door.
A few options I’ve been looking at for this area are:
My first choice for functionality and design is the Eames Hang It All. Out of my price range at the moment but I will always have it in mind as I love the multiple hooks and classic design. I also don’t have the clearance behind our front door for the depth of the Hang-it-All but in my dreams I do ($249.00ea).
Another option I love are the Muuto The Dots in Oak. These playful dots are on display in many beautiful homes I’ve pinned over the years and I can never seem to get them out of my mind ($175.00 for 5).
Some more affordable options I am considering are the CB2 Dot Coat Hooks ($15.95 for 3).
and the EQ3 Spot Wall Knob in White ($9.99ea)
I’ll do an update on the area when it is done and let you know how the training of a 2 year old to to hang his own coat goes…
